Expert Witness and Engineering Design Consultancy : Confidential Appointments etc...

I got the expert witness job for which I was interviewed yesterday.

Like the proper engineering job I picked up earlier in the week, it is subject to a confidentiality agreement, so I can't say anything about either of them, other than that they are interesting.

I'm glad to have another expert witness appointment, but gladder still to be doing some engineering design consultancy.

I wouldn't want to become someone who used to practice engineering, and now just talks about it.

On the training side, China course now solidly booked, Abu Dhabi firming up, and a course in Malaysia next summer looking very likely.

Feedback from TCE article on practitioner based teaching has been consistently good, and I'm talking to them about writing another. Must make sure to leave room to write the book.

Water Engineering Process Design Expert Witness and Training Consultancy

There is lots of new interest in our expert witness and process design services at the moment.

I am having a teleconference for a potential new expert witness engagement this week. Of the two current  expert witness jobs, one has settled out of court, and the other is still proceeding to set a court date. I've booked a place on a training course to hone my court appearance skills, as I have only been to court once before, most things settle before then.

On the practical engineering side, we have signed a confidentiality agreement and contract for some development work, and are meeting a new client next week to discuss supporting their design and tendering activity.

Training courses are being booked in Abu Dhabi and China for the end of the year.

The book is coming along, I expect to have no problem delivering the first chapter to Elsevier in January

Practitioner based engineering education spreads...

I get a mention in a research paper here, based on an edited snippet of a conversation I had with a journalist at The Chemical Engineer magazine. I don't remember being that incoherent at the time....

Expert Witness: Sewage Treatment: Chartered Engineer: Court Appearance

It looks as though at least one of the two waste water engineering expert witness engagements we have on the books at present is going to make it to court around the turn of the year.

I'm quite looking forward to it. I have written quite a few expert witness reports now, but few cases of the sort on which I produce reports (usually for the specialist technology and construction court) go all the way to a hearing before a judge with expert witnesses present.

Getting more court experience will be interesting.
